The old air traffic control tower at Charlotte Douglas International Airport caught fire during its demolition on Wednesday, causing a brief but tense situation for the construction crew on site.

The fire broke out in the afternoon as workers were dismantling the decades-old structure. Flames quickly engulfed parts of the tower, trapping four construction workers inside. Fortunately, the workers managed to escape on their own and were uninjured.
