Trio jailed after man stabbed in frenzied attack at Leicester flat
Leicestershire Police statement: Three people have been jailed for a total of more than 40 years after a man was stabbed at an address in Leicester’s Narborough Road.
Police arrived at the property shortly after 5.30pm on 19 August 2024 after a report was received that a 36-year-old man had been attacked inside Monika Krolikowska’s home.
The victim – whose injuries were life-changing – told police he had been a former neighbour of Krolikowska, and he had bumped into her at a nearby shop. He told officers he had asked if he could go to her address to charge his phone, which she agreed.
The victim was sat in Krolikowska’s flat with Krolikowska, when two men – David Rzeszowski and Damian Dwogewski – entered the flat.
The victim said he heard one of the men ask Krolikowska ‘Is this the one?’ and that he was then stabbed in the chest, shoulder blade and in both hands and forearms in a 30-second frenzied attack.
The men then left the address on foot and the victim also made his way out onto the street where first aid was provided by members of the public prior to the police and ambulance service arriving.
Krolikowska, 41, was initially treated as a significant witness but as enquiries progressed officers established she had invited the men round with the intention of them attacking the victim and she was arrested.
Speaking to police, the victim said he had never seen either man before and that he believed they were going to kill him.
After leaving the address, Dwogewski and Rzeszowski – both aged 35 – fled to Scotland. Rzeszowski was later arrested by officers from Police Scotland as he was wanted on recall to prison while Dwogewski was arrested in November 2024 when he returned to Leicester.
On 11 February, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court, Dwogewski and Krolikowska were found not guilty of attempted murder.
The jury could not reach a verdict for Rzesowski.
However Dwogewski and Krolikowska were found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Rzeszowski had already pleaded guilty to the charge.
