Man in Custody After Shocking Isle of Wight Rape Probe
Police are hunting answers after a young woman was allegedly raped in a remote spot on the Isle of Wight. A 35-year-old man remains in custody this evening as detectives dive deep into the chilling case.
High Drama Search Across the Island
The alarm was raised when a dog walker found the distressed 18-year-old woman. Officers launched an urgent search, deploying the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth.
The hunt covered several parts of the island before police detained a suspect. He was taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.
Attack Details Emerge
Detectives say the woman was seen getting into a red van in 1 High Street at around 9am on Friday, October 7. The van drove to the end of Old Blackgang Road, where the horrific assault is believed to have taken place.
The 35-year-old suspect is now facing serious investigation linked to the attack.
