Elderly Man Brutally Attacked in Croydon

A 71-year-old man was left seriously injured after a vicious assault near Norbury Station, Croydon. The pensioner was heading to the shops around 10am on Wednesday, 5 February, when trouble struck.

Attacker Strikes From Behind

The victim was approached under the bridge by a man demanding to know what he had in his pockets. When the man said he had nothing, the attacker walked away – only to return seconds later and kick him hard in the back. The victim collapsed to the floor as the suspect fled the scene.

Serious Injuries and Ongoing Hospital Treatment

Ambulance crews were flagged down and treated the man at the scene, but he initially refused further medical help. It later emerged he suffered multiple severe injuries, including a broken hip, femur, and ribs. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Police Hunt Scruffy Suspect

The attacker is described as an Asian male in his 30s, sporting a scruffy beard. He wore dark clothes and a black woolly hat.

Police urge anyone who saw someone matching this description near Norbury Station to call 101 quoting reference 1203936/20.
