The burglary happened between 12pm and 3pm on Tuesday (5 January) at an address on Rival Moore Road.
Police were also made aware of several suspicious incidents in the surrounding area involving a man matching the description.
Officers were able to identify the suspect from private CCTV footage.
A 16-year-old boy from Portsmouth was yesterday evening (6 January) arrested on suspicion of burglary. He remains in custody at this time.
