A violent, unprovoked assault on Ramsden Road, Hexthorpe, has landed a man behind bars following forensic breakthroughs and CCTV evidence.

CCTV and Forensics Crack the Case

On 2 June 2025, police responded to reports of a serious assault. Detectives quickly traced a CCTV camera that captured the chilling chase and savage attack. Footage showed a gang pursuing their victim before launching a brutal assault. The attackers then sped off in a black Audi S3. The victim needed surgery for his severe injuries.

Forensic Handprint Nails the Driver

Police identified the Audi’s registered owner as Macauly Burdis. Crucially, the driver was caught on camera resting a hand on a nearby vehicle. Forensic testing confirmed the handprint belonged to Burdis. He was swiftly arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Burdis Sentenced to 32 Months

Burdis pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court on 4 March. The judge handed him 32 months in prison for the violent attack and additional drug-dealing offences.

The swift police work and forensic science ensured justice for the victim in this ferocious assault on Ramsden Road.
