Police Hunt Man Who Spooked 10-Year-Old Near Shirley School

Police are on the lookout after a suspicious man was spotted loitering near a 10-year-old boy at the St James’ Park end of Bellemoor Road in Shirley yesterday afternoon (Monday 30 April).

Man Described as Bearded, Black T-Shirt, Blue Jeans

Officers were called at 3.36pm following reports that the man approached the child before running off down Bellemoor Road towards Hill Lane – right as the school day ended and the area was busy with parents and pupils.

Community Urged to Stay Alert and Speak Up

Southampton West Neighbourhood Policing have ramped up patrols in the area and are working closely with Shirley Junior School and nearby schools to keep children safe while the investigation continues.

“We understand this news causes concern,” said police. “We are committed to making communities safe and ask anyone with information to come forward.”
