Basement Fire on Deal High Street Quickly Extinguished by Firefighters

Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire in the basement of a commercial building on Deal High Street today. The fire was reported at 12:20 PM, prompting the deployment of two fire engines.

Fire crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, used dry powder extinguishers and high-pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. The building had been safely evacuated before firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, linked to an electrical fault. The swift action of the fire crews ensured the flames were contained, preventing further damage.

Local businesses and residents have been reminded to regularly check electrical systems to prevent similar incidents.
