Driver Arrested for Drink Driving and Uninsured Vehicle in Lee on the Solent

A driver was arrested this afternoon in Lee on the Solent following a tip-off from a concerned member of the public. The tip indicated that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and subsequent tests confirmed the suspicion.

A Fareham and Gosport Response officer, acting on the tip, intercepted the vehicle and conducted a roadside breathalyzer test. The driver registered a blood alcohol level of 69 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath, significantly above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. The individual was promptly arrested and transported to Portsmouth Investigation Centre for further processing.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was also operating the vehicle without insurance. As a result, the vehicle was seized and is now on a recovery truck.

Authorities emphasized that there is “absolutely no excuse for drink driving,” citing the numerous alternative methods available for getting home safely. The incident highlights the ongoing campaign to combat drink driving, a key part of the “Fatal Four” initiative aimed at reducing road traffic accidents and fatalities.

The police urge the public to report any suspected instances of impaired or unsafe driving and to always choose safe transportation options.
