Officers from Warwickshire’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) have intercepted an electric bike rider who attempted to evade police at high speed on Banbury Road. The pursuit came to an unexpected end when the rider’s battery ran out, forcing him to abandon the bike.
The incident occurred when officers signalled for the rider to stop, but instead, he sped away, only to come to a halt as the electric bike lost power. The rider then tried to escape on foot, fleeing across nearby fields, but officers caught up with him shortly afterwards.

The individual has been reported for multiple traffic offences, and the expensive electric bike was seized by police. Warwickshire OPU shared details of the incident on social media, noting the rider’s misfortune with a touch of humour, “The rider asked, and we obliged!”
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by Warwickshire Police to maintain road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
