Emergency services called to Royal Victoria Dock Bridge

Emergency services have been called to assist in an ongoing incident on the south side of the Royal Victoria Dock Bridge, Britannia Village, in Docklands this afternoon. Police officers have cordoned off a section of the south side river bank after a man is understood to have entered the water at around 3pm. A spokesman for the Met Police said: “We have called to a man threatening to jump off a bridge. We still the scene to ensure he is safe. Other partners from the fire service and paramedics have also been called to the ongoing incident. UPDATE: Police say they were called at around 3pm on Saturday a man enter the water despite efforts to locate the man he is still outstanding. Two members of the public attempted to save him, they were unsuccessful. Emergency crews from the LFB water rescue team have been working with Police conducting a search of the water and the surrounding area.
