An engine fire on a bus caused a significant disruption on Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge, late Tuesday afternoon.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was alerted to the incident at 17:17 on June 11, 2024. Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, used high-pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

The fire was successfully brought under control by 5.48pm and no injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for KFRS said, “We were called to reports of an engine fire on a bus in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge. Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.”

The quick response and efficient work of the fire crews ensured that the situation was resolved swiftly, minimizing the disruption to the area. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Local traffic was temporarily affected due to the emergency response, but normal traffic flow has since resumed.
