The search is officially on for the next generation of stars to portray Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in HBO’s highly anticipated new “Harry Potter” TV series. In an exciting opportunity for children across the UK and Ireland, HBO has launched an open casting call to find three young actors to take on the iconic roles in the series, set to be a “faithful adaptation” of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books.
Open Casting Call Details
[block_2]HBO has now started the search for talented children, aged 9-11 as of April 2025, who are residents of the UK or Ireland to play the lead roles.
A post on the official Harry Potter Facebook page announced the casting call, inviting aspiring young actors to audition for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

To apply for one of the roles, children must submit their application through the Cast It website. Applicants are required to upload two videos:
- A short poem or story reading (maximum 30 seconds) – the selection should not be from Harry Potter.
- A video introduction about yourself (one-minute maximum), including your date of birth, height, where you live, and details about any family members, friends, or pets you are particularly close to.
Parents or legal guardians must submit the application on behalf of their child, and all applications need to be completed before the deadline of October 31, 2024.
