A festive drama unfolded in Swanmore on Christmas Eve when firefighters were called to rescue a horse named Lola, who had fallen into a swimming pool. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of emergency services, Lola is now safe and sound in a nearby field.
Rescue Operation
The call for help came in around 10 a.m., alerting Botley firefighters to the unusual predicament. On arrival, they found Lola standing in the pool, unable to climb out on her own. Recognizing the need for specialist equipment, the team called in reinforcements from Eastleigh, including a Manitou telehandler, and Winchester’s specialist Animal Rescue team.
A vet on site sedated Lola to ensure her safety during the operation. Using the telehandler, firefighters carefully lifted the horse out of the pool, ensuring her comfort and minimising stress.
Safe and Sound
Lola was successfully removed from the pool and is now recovering in a neighboring field. Thankfully, she suffered no injuries during her ordeal.
