Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a large garden fire on Sandown Road in Gravesend just before midnight on Saturday, 31 May, after flames from a discarded wood-chipping cooking tray ignited a bin and spread to a home’s exterior.

The fire, which broke out at 11:59 PM, prompted a swift emergency response. Two fire engines attended the scene and crews in breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control by 12:31 AM on Sunday.

No Injuries, But Residents Displaced

There were no reported injuries, but residents were forced to find alternative accommodation due to the impact on the property. Firefighters remained on scene to dampen down hotspots and ensure the fire did not reignite.
