Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of ablaze hedges and grass in Galloways Road, Lydd, Romney Marsh.
Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and crews used hose reel jets, main jets, and a fogging unit to extinguish the flames.
There were no reported injuries, and the cause has yet to be determined.
Most grass fires occur between May and September when the ground can become extremely dry, allowing flames to spread quickly.
Many grass fires are unintentional, and members of the public can help to reduce the risk of these occurrences by following some basic safety precautions:
Keeping bonfires to a manageable size, well away from greenery and property, and always supervising them while they burn.
Dispose of smoking materials responsibly, making sure they’re fully stubbed out and cooled before being discarded – when on the go, consider using a portable ashtray.
Cooking on a disposal barbecue should be done on a flat, non-flammable surface, away from property and greenery, and discarded once completely cool.
Remember, if you see a grass fire, get to a safe location and call 999.
