Man Arrested in Portland Road for Carrying Knife

A swift police response led to the arrest of a man carrying a knife on Portland Road, SE25, earlier today.

Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called at 12:13hrs on Friday, 21 February following reports from concerned members of the public about a man seen with a bladed weapon.
No injuries were reported, and the incident did not result in any further threats to public safety.

Local residents expressed relief at the prompt police action. One passerby, Jessica Martin, 34, said: “It’s scary to think that someone was walking around with a knife, but I’m really thankful the police acted so quickly.”

The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by the Metropolitan Police to reduce knife crime across London. The force continues to urge members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour and has reiterated its commitment to keeping London’s streets safe.
