A man was allegedly assaulted and had an unknown substance thrown at him during an early morning altercation in Blackwall today.
Emergency services were called at around 1.40am to reports of a disturbance on Baffin Way, E14. Officers from the Metropolitan Police, along with crews from the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, responded to the scene.
A 26-year-old man was found with minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment. The substance thrown at him was later confirmed to be non-corrosive, easing initial fears of a potential acid attack.
No arrests have been made, and police enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The Metropolitan Police is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward.
A spokesperson said:
“Police were called at 1.40am on Thursday, April 24 to reports of an altercation.
Officers joined London Ambulance Service alongside London Fire Brigade at Baffin Way, E14, where a man had allegedly been assaulted and an unknown substance thrown at him.
The 26-year-old man received minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. The substance was confirmed to be non-corrosive. No arrests have yet been made.”
