Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage following the tragic death of a man involved in a fail-to-stop collision in Bristol. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 24, at approximately 19.10 on King George’s Road in Bishopsworth. The collision involved a pedestrian and a white Honda moped.
Of particular interest to investigators is the rider of another motorcycle, potentially a delivery driver, who was not directly involved in the collision but may have witnessed the events leading up to it. Authorities are urging this individual to come forward with any information they may have.
The injured pedestrian, identified as 70-year-old David Watkins from Bishopsworth, passed away in the hospital earlier this month. His family, devastated by the loss, expressed their grief and shock over the sudden tragedy. Describing David as a loving father, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend, they emphasised that he had many years of life ahead of him, with planned holidays and family gatherings. The family’s statement also highlighted the memories yet to be made and assured that David will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A 17-year-old male, believed to be connected to the collision, was also hospitalised and will be interviewed by authorities once deemed fit to do so. The pillion passenger of the motorbike involved in the incident has since been identified.
Anyone with information that could assist the ongoing investigation is urged to come forward and contact the authorities. Witnesses and individuals possessing dash-cam footage are especially encouraged to reach out. To provide information, please call 101 and reference the case number 5223233172.
