Police Appeal for Witnesses as They Investigate Large-Scale Violent Disorder in Bolton Overnight – UKNIP

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are appealing for witnesses following a disturbing outbreak of violent disorder in the early hours of this morning. Authorities were initially alerted to reports of fireworks being set off in the Halliwell Road area of Bolton at approximately 01.00  but the situation quickly escalated into a series of violent confrontations.

Multiple calls flooded into the police, detailing fights that had erupted in the same vicinity. Tragically, two individuals sustained severe injuries during the chaos and were promptly rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. Their current conditions remain undisclosed.

In response to the escalating situation, GMP swiftly took action, arresting four individuals in connection with the violent disorder. The detained individuals, aged 25, 27, 31, and 35, are currently in police custody and are set to be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

The aftermath of the violent incidents has left four distinct scenes under police scrutiny. These scenes are situated at Maria Street/Gladstone Street, Madeley Gardens, Bride Street, and Weymouth Street. Law enforcement teams are working closely with the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit to process these areas thoroughly. Authorities anticipate that all scenes will be closed off later today as investigators gather crucial evidence.

Detective Inspector Stuart Woodhead, from GMP’s Bolton division, expressed his deep concern regarding the situation, stating, “What appeared to start as anti-social behavior in relation to fireworks quickly descended into large-scale violent disorder, which is completely unacceptable on the streets of Bolton.”

Woodhead continued, “We would be interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the incident and would ask that they contact us via 101, the CID office directly on 0161 85 65757, or via the Live Chat function on our website, http:///www.gmp.police.uk. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers – on 0800 555 111.”
