Police Investigate Reports of Group Causing Disturbance and Alleged Firearm Threat in Islington

Police are investigating after receiving reports of a group of males causing a disturbance at a restaurant and later allegedly threatening a man with a firearm in Islington on Tuesday, 25 February.

The first call to police came in at around 5:35pm, reporting that a group of males were causing a disturbance and threatening staff at a restaurant on White Lion Street, N1. No weapons were seen during this initial incident.

Shortly after, officers received a second call regarding an escalating situation nearby. A man reported being threatened and chased by a group on Great Percy Street, and claimed that one of the males was believed to be in possession of a firearm.

Police Response

Metropolitan Police officers quickly responded to both locations, conducting a thorough search of the area. However, the group had already left the vicinity by the time officers arrived.

A spokesperson for the Met Police stated:
“We were called at about 17:35hrs on Tuesday, 25 February, to reports of a group of males causing a disturbance and threatening staff at a restaurant on White Lion Street, N1. No weapon was seen during the initial incident. A short time later, a second call was received regarding a man being threatened and chased on Great Percy Street, where it was reported that one of the males may have had a firearm.”

“Officers attended and carried out extensive searches, but the group is believed to have left the area. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Community Concerns

Local residents and business owners have expressed concern over the incident, with many worried about safety in the area. A worker from a nearby shop, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It’s scary to think there might have been a gun involved. This is usually a safe area, and things like this make people nervous.”

The Metropolitan Police have reassured the public that they are taking the reports seriously and are dedicating resources to ensure those involved are identified.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
