Police in Thornaby have seized a quad bike following reports of nuisance and antisocial behaviour in the area. The vehicle was confiscated by Matrix Disruption Team officers on Redcar Road on the afternoon of Tuesday 27 May 2025.
While the rider managed to evade capture, Cleveland Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved.
A photo released by the force shows the seized quad bike, which is believed to have been used illegally on public roads. The seizure forms part of a wider crackdown on off-road vehicles causing disruption in residential communities.
“We Are Watching,” Warns Matrix Team
Sergeant Andy Benson, speaking on behalf of the Matrix Disruption Team, stressed the importance of public cooperation in tackling the issue:
“We will continue to tackle off-road bikes and quad bikes which cause a nuisance and antisocial behaviour to residents. We are utilising drone technology, along with other tactics, to help make our roads safer and protect our communities.”
He encouraged the public to report sightings or storage locations of off-road bikes, either directly to Cleveland Police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
