A major joint operation between Redbridge Police and Redbridge Council’s Neighbourhood Enforcement team took place yesterday on Ilford Lane, targeting both criminal activity and environmental offences.
The traffic operation saw officers stop over 100 vehicles, as police looked for those linked to crimes such as burglaries, drug offences, and car thefts. Meanwhile, council officers focused on identifying rogue waste carriers operating without the correct documentation.

The council highlighted the operation as part of its ongoing commitment to tackle fly-tipping and keep streets clean — a top concern among residents.
“We know cleaning our streets is a top issue for our residents, so it is a top priority for the council,” a spokesperson said.
“Rogue waste removal services often fly-tip on our streets and in our parks. We are showing zero tolerance to those who have no respect for Redbridge.”
Operation Results:
- ✅ 101 vehicles stopped
- ✅ Two vehicles seized
- ✅ Five offences reported for further investigation or fines
- ✅ Ten Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) issued for waste licence offences
The Council warned that waste carriers operating without a proper waste carrier licence and relevant documents will be dealt with robustly.
