Fire crews from the London Fire Brigade were called at around 8pm on Friday evening to the Sports block at Bexleyheath Academy on Woolwich Road after a large group became trapped within the sports block.
Staff on site called the fire service to help free those involved after a lock jammed on the main door of the block.
