The Greater Glasgow Human Trafficking Unit has apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in human trafficking operations. The arrests, made on Friday, September 27, 2024, follow an extensive investigation into alleged exploitation activities within the city.
The suspects, a 28-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, are scheduled to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, September 30. Both face charges related to human trafficking offences, though specific details regarding the allegations have not yet been disclosed.
Detective Inspector Grant Currie of Glasgow’s Human Trafficking Unit emphasized the significance of community involvement in combating such crimes. We are committed to working with our partners to pursue those involved in this type of criminality, with a strong focus on safeguarding individuals who may be at risk of exploitation,” DI Currie stated.
The detective inspector also highlighted the crucial role of public cooperation in identifying and apprehending perpetrators of human trafficking. Information from people within our communities is key to helping us identify those involved in committing these crimes against vulnerable people in our society,” he added.
