Blazes Rage as Fire Crews Battle Two Major Wildfires in Hampshire

Firefighters scrambled this weekend after two huge grass and gorse fires broke out in Hampshire, laying waste to vast patches of countryside.

Four Vehicles and 4WD Land Rovers Tackle Warsash Wildfire

At 4.47pm, emergency crews were called to a blaze off Hook Park Road in Warsash. The fire chewed through a massive 150-metre by 100-metre swathe of land.

Four fire engines and four off-road 4WD Land Rovers raced to the scene. Firefighters battled the flames with jets and beaters, quickly containing the fire’s spread. They stayed on site to douse hotspots and stop any flare-ups.

Six Engines Join Forces to Quell Fire at Forest Front Nature Reserve

Under two hours later, at 6.14pm, crews were called again to the Forest Front Nature Reserve in Hythe. This time six fire engines and two off-road 4WD Land Rovers worked side by side with Forestry England rangers.

By 8.25pm, the fire was surrounded and crews were focussing on extinguishing the remaining flames.

Warning to Countryside Visitors: Take Care This Weekend

Officials urge anyone enjoying the great outdoors to stay alert. The extreme heat has left the ground sizzling and dry – perfect conditions for fires to go out of control in seconds.

  • Do not light open barbecues, campfires or bonfires.
  • Dispose of cigarettes, rubbish, and glass bottles responsibly.
  • Stay vigilant and report any sign of fire immediately.

Stay safe and help protect our precious countryside from disaster this weekend!
