Emergency services were called shortly after 7am this morning after two cars were involved in a collision on the A617 near Kelham.
The road has been closed between Hockerton and Newark for much of the day for investigation work and is expected to remain closed for several hours as collision investigators examine the scene.
Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit and Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a very serious incident which has resulted in serious injuries to two people.
“We are working to understand what happened in the moments leading up to it and are seeking assistance from any witnesses who may have seen this accident or arrived afterwards.”
