In a tragic incident, two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a two-year-old girl in Ipswich. The grim discovery was made when police officers responded to a call at a property on Sidegate Lane shortly after 11.45 am on Friday.

Suffolk Police released a statement confirming the arrests: “In the early hours of this morning (Saturday 1 July), officers arrested a 22-year-old man from Bedfordshire and a 22-year-old woman of no fixed abode in Bury St Edmunds on suspicion of murder. The pair are currently being questioned at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where they remain. The pair are known to the victim.”

Superintendent Jane Topping expressed the ongoing efforts to establish the precise circumstances leading to the child’s death. Initial inquiries are underway and will continue throughout the weekend. Superintendent Topping urged the public not to speculate on social media about the identity of the child or the circumstances surrounding her death.
