Underage Drinking And Antisocial Behaviour In The Gedling North Area Have Been Reduced Thanks To Proactive Neighbourhood Policing Patrols

Members of the Gedling north neighbourhood policing team apprehended underage drinkers in Arnold’s Arnot Hill Park.

Officers took three youths home and seized alcohol containers during the reassurance patrols.

Officers were also out and about in Calverton on Friday night, preventing antisocial behaviour by moving on groups of people hanging around shops as part of their positive crime prevention activity (27 January 2023).

In addition, early intervention patrols were conducted in licenced premises around Arnold and Mapperley Top.

Licensing checks were carried out in collaboration with door staff and management, while officers remained visible in these areas.

Officers arrested a woman on Front Street in Arnold for being drunk and disorderly during this activity.

Officers were on foot patrols again around Mapperley Top and Arnold on Saturday night, engaging with licenced premises and being ready to deal with any emerging issues, as well as in hotspot areas around Calverton and Arnold to deter antisocial behaviour.

A man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly on Arnold’s Front Street, and officers intervened to break up a reported altercation in the street. There were no offences disclosed.

The proactive patrols were conducted in conjunction with a national Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, which concluded yesterday (Sunday 29 January 2023).

Throughout the week, Nottinghamshire highlighted the wide-ranging work that its neighbourhood policing teams do on a daily basis to keep people safe and address issues affecting residents and businesses in their communities.

As our recent activity demonstrates, our officers work extremely hard every day not only to keep their communities safe, but also to positively engage with and support our residents and businesses,” said Stu Howe, a neighbourhood policing sergeant for Gedling north.

“The week of action provided an excellent opportunity for us to highlight the ongoing actions we are taking to protect people from harm and for the public to get a taste of how our neighbourhood teams work to address issues and deter criminality on our streets.”
