Body Believed to Be Missing Father Found After Boat Capsized at Draycote Water – UKNIP

The body of a man who went missing after a boat capsized on Draycote Water reservoir has been found, Warwickshire Police have confirmed.

The man, believed to be the father of a young boy rescued from the lake, had been missing since the incident occurred around 3:30pm on Thursday, 29 May. After an intense and large-scale search operation involving multiple emergency services, a body was recovered from the water on Friday evening.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, and formal identification is expected in due course.

Boy Rescued, Father Missing

The incident unfolded when a small boat overturned, throwing both occupants — a man and his son — into the reservoir. The boy was rescued safely and was uninjured, according to West Midlands Ambulance Service, who assessed him at the scene and discharged him without further treatment.

The father’s life jacket was reportedly found still aboard the capsized vessel, while the boy had been wearing his at the time of rescue.

Intensive Search Operation

The discovery of the body came after more than 24 hours of intensive search efforts involving:

Reservoir Closure

Draycote Water, including its sailing club, fishing club, and visitor facilities, will remain closed to the public on Saturday as authorities continue their investigation and recovery operations.
