A body has been recovered from the River Thames during the search for Kaliyah Coa, the 11-year-old girl who went missing in East London at the end of March.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were called to Maritime Quay shortly before 9am on Sunday morning (13 April) following reports of a body in the water.
In a statement, the Met said:
“The body is yet to be formally identified. However, the family of Kaliyah Coa have been informed of this development and are being supported by specialist officers.”

Investigation Ongoing
While formal identification is yet to take place, police say an investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding Kaliyah’s disappearance. A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out in the coming days.
Tributes and messages of support for Kaliyah’s family have begun appearing online, with many locals expressing heartbreak at the tragic news. Community vigils are being planned across parts of East London.
