The body recovered from the River Thames near Wapping on 13 December has been formally identified as 37-year-old Gurbaksh “Simon” Sually, who had been missing since 23 November 2024.
Mr. Sually was last seen in the Bishopsgate and Hackney area of London, and was reported missing the following day. Despite extensive searches and appeals for information, there had been no confirmed sightings of him until the discovery of the body in the Thames.
Reports indicated that Mr. Sually’s phone was active in Ipswich at around 2:30am on 28 November, which added to the mystery of his disappearance.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have stated that while the cause of death remains undetermined, the death is not considered suspicious. CCTV footage showed Mr. Sually walking alone along the river before entering the water, without any interference from third parties.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance has now been closed. Police continue to offer support to Mr. Sually’s family during this difficult time.
