Car Crashes Through Railings Sparking Multi-agency Emergency Rescue

The crash happened on the A27 Gosport Road at around 11.10 pm Tuesday 26 January. It’s understood that the vehicle lost control as it exited the Fareham turnoff, causing it to skid through railings mounting the pavement before rolling into Fareham creek. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received the call at around 11.20 pm with reports of persons trapped HM Coastguard and crews from Portsmouth Lifeboat were also tasked to assist Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service to free the injured casualties from the vehicle. Three teenagers who wish to remain anonymous said: ‘We were all walking towards Fareham Town Centre when we heard skidding from an approaching car.’ ‘We then saw a dark coloured vehicle hurtling towards us, as we attempted to run the car then ploughed through barriers missing us by a few inches.’ ‘It then went skidding across mount the pavement before hitting a further barrier causing it to roll into Fareham Creek.’ It’s understood that the two casualties were extracted from the vehicle and taken to hospital by land ambulance. Another nearby resident said: ‘I’m in shock we see a lot of boy racers speeding and racing along the road all the time, it’s a really dangerous road if something isn’t done about it soon someone could be killed.’
