At around 4.10pm on Monday, January 9, 2023, a man and a woman were walking in Borough when they were approached by two males asking for a lighter. The man and woman continued walking and stopped for food at a takeaway. When they left the premises, they were approached by the same males who had been involved in the altercation. The man was assaulted, suffered serious facial injuries, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The two suspects were seen fleeing towards the Canterbury city centre. The first suspect was described as a thin white male in his late twenties, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was described as having a pale complexion, freckles, ginger hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark puffer jacket, a hooded top, and grey tracksuit bottoms. The second suspect was described as being of comparable height but of a larger build.
