This afternoon, HM Coastguard was alerted to a diver who had failed to resurface and was subsequently reported missing. The diver was expected to resurface around 1:10 PM, but when this did not occur, a search operation was initiated.
The Coastguard launched a search effort at approximately 1:45 PM, involving multiple rescue teams. The Hastings RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched alongside a Coastguard helicopter from Lydd. The operation was later joined by a Coastguard Aircraft Eastbourne lifeboat, Dungeness lifeboat, and the Pett Level Independent Lifeboat.
