A New York architect has been charged with six counts of murder by a grand jury in connection with the deaths of three of the “Gilgo Four” women, according to a bail application from the Suffolk County District Attorney. This marks the first arrest made in the long-standing and unsolved case that has raised speculation about the involvement of a serial killer.
The suspect, Rex Heuermann, (pictured) was taken into custody on Thursday night by federal law enforcement. Authorities executed a search warrant at an address registered to him in Massapequa Park. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office confirmed that Heuermann is connected to the murder of four women, known as the “Gilgo Four,” whose bodies were found wrapped in burlap within days of each other in 2010.
