Wiltshire Police have re-issued an urgent appeal for footage and witnesses after a large fire tore through Old Sarum Airfield on the evening of April 17, causing extensive damage to a historic wartime hangar and adjoining businesses.
The fire, which broke out just after 6pm, engulfed Hangar 3, a partially derelict World War II structure, as well as a café on site. Another business operating nearby also suffered significant damage. Fire crews battled the blaze for several hours, with large plumes of smoke visible across the area.

Ongoing Investigation Into Cause
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and detectives are now appealing for any video footage—including from mobile phones, dashcams, or home security systems—from anyone who was in the vicinity shortly before or during the fire.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said:
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have captured video of the fire or activity around the airfield in the minutes leading up to it. Even if you weren’t directly at the scene, your footage could be crucial in helping us determine the cause.”
