Residents Urged to Close Windows as Fire Breaks Out at Commercial Unit in Charing – UKNIP

Residents and travellers near Hurstford Lane, Charing, are being urged to keep windows and doors closed as firefighters tackle a large blaze at a commercial unit.

The fire broke out on Saturday, 3 May, prompting a major response from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS).

At its peak, ten fire engines and two bulk water carriers were at the scene, alongside support from an electrical safety engineer from UK Power Networks, the Environment Agency, and the KFRS Volunteer Response Team.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus and using a compressed air foam system (CAFs) are continuing to work hard to fully extinguish the flames.
The Volunteer Response Team remains on-site to provide welfare support to firefighters.

Update at 10:15pm:
Smoke continues to drift from the scene, and residents are still advised to keep windows and doors closed.

There are currently no reported injuries, and emergency services are making good progress in containing the fire.
