Non-Arrival of Shipment Sparks Shortage
Shoppers on the Isle of Sheppey were left disappointed today as Tesco shelves stood bare of bananas following the non-arrival of a scheduled shipment.
The tropical fruit, a staple in many households, was nowhere to be found at the supermarket, leading to bemused customers questioning what had happened to the “banana boat” expected to dock and deliver the goods.
A History of Missing Bananas?
The last time Sheppey faced a similar banana shortage, local authorities intervened after the unexpected arrival of non-banana-related contraband instead. While details of that incident remain vague, it appears the banana drought has returned once more.
One local shopper joked:
“First, we had no tomatoes, then no eggs, and now this? It’s a banana crisis!”
Tesco’s Response
A Tesco spokesperson acknowledged the issue, stating:
“We are aware of the shortage and are working with our suppliers to ensure bananas are back in stock as soon as possible.”
While it’s unclear exactly when the next shipment will arrive, Sheppey residents will have to make do without their favourite fruit – or consider alternatives such as apples or pears in the meantime.
For now, it’s a case of “Yes, we have no bananas!”
