Tragedy Strikes Cowdenbeath As Pedestrian Stephen Davis Loses Life In Hit-and-run

In a heart-wrenching incident on the evening of Thursday, September 14, 2023, a pedestrian lost his life in a fatal hit-and-run involving an Audi motor car. The victim has been identified as Stephen Davis, a beloved member of the Cowdenbeath community.

Stephen Davis, a resident of Cowdenbeath, met with the tragic accident around 8:30 PM, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit community. Davis’s family, who had already been grieving the loss of his long-term partner in July, is now grappling with the sudden and uk/news/uk/breaking/dungeness-rnli-mourns-the-devastating-loss-of-much-loved-coxswain-stuart-adams/">devastating loss of their beloved Stephen.

In an emotional statement, the family expressed their profound grief: “We are devastated by the loss of Stephen and the circumstances and timing that led to his death. Stephen was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He and his partner were actively involved in the Cowdenbeath Market Garden, a community project close to their hearts. He will be deeply missed by us all.”

The family went on to thank the bystanders who rushed to help Stephen at the accident scene, as well as the witnesses who came forward with information. They also extended their gratitude to the efforts of Police Scotland.

In their plea for privacy during this incredibly difficult time, the family requested that their mourning process be respected.

The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, a grey Audi SQ5, remains missing, with investigations ongoing to locate it. The car was reportedly seen heading in the direction of Perth Road immediately after the collision before continuing toward the north-east of Fife. Police Scotland is urging anyone who has seen a similar vehicle parked in an unfamiliar location or possesses information about the car to come forward.

A significant breakthrough in the case came with the arrest of a 32-year-old man in connection with the incident. He has been charged and appeared at dunfermline/">Dunfermline" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Dunfermline" link="linked" id="85677">Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday, September 18, 2023.
