Late-night assault leaves victim with life-changing injuries

A man in his 30s was viciously attacked by a gang at Crawley railway station just after 11.20pm on Saturday, March 7. Police say three men approached the victim, with one hurling a corrosive substance at him before the group chased him down. The victim fell and was kicked repeatedly as the attackers then fled the scene.

Emergency services rush the victim to the hospital

Paramedics arrived swiftly to treat the man, who suffered potentially life-changing chemical burns. He was later discharged from the hospital but remains seriously injured. Specialist tests confirmed the substance used was corrosive.

Police hunt suspects – one arrest made

Detective Constable Billy Burstow said: “This shocking attack has caused real concern in the community. We have spoken to witnesses, reviewed CCTV, and carried out forensic work.”

He added: “We believe this was an isolated incident involving strangers and there’s no wider risk to the public.”

One man has been arrested, and police have released images of two more suspects believed to be involved.
