Drivers are facing severe delays of up to 90 minutes after a crash closed part of the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway near Junction 17 (Maple Cross).

The incident, which occurred earlier today, has brought traffic to a standstill, with 6.5 miles of congestion reported on the approach.

Emergency services at the scene

Police, paramedics and National Highways Traffic Officers remain at the scene. All anti-clockwise traffic is currently being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at Junction 17 while the carriageway remains blocked.

Travel advice

National Highways is urging drivers to:

  • Plan ahead and consider alternative routes.
  • Allow extra time for their journeys.
  • Consider delaying travel until the incident is cleared.

A spokesperson said:

“If this closure impacts your planned route, please allow extra journey time. There is an hour and a half delay on approach with 6.5 miles of congestion.”
