A tragic crash on the A64 near York early Monday has claimed the life of Scott Proudlock, 43, who was due to stand trial today charged with child abuse.

The horror smash happened around 2:50am on October 20, when Proudlock’s white Ford Transit Connect van slammed into a stationary Volvo lorry parked in a layby near York Racecourse.

Police confirm Proudlock, from near Malton, died at the scene. The HGV driver escaped unhurt and is cooperating with enquiries.
Serious Charges Adjourned After Death
Proudlock was set to face York Crown Court today, charged with three counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and creating indecent images of a child.
