Chris Prime, landlord of the pub, confirmed officers had attended the premises on Sunday night to review CCTV from 12 cameras covering both inside and outside the venue. He said the footage showed the man involved had not been inside the pub and had not approached the beach from Warden Bay village.

“It is assumed he had come along the beach from the Leysdown direction,” Mr Prime explained. “The alarm was raised to us when we were asked to use the emergency defibrillator mounted on our property, which was taken over before the emergency services arrived.”
