In a tragic incident that occurred yesterday in Gateshead, a pedestrian lost his life following a collision. The victim has been identified as Craig Morrow, 42, from the Gateshead area. Mr Morrow sustained fatal injuries just after 06:10 GMT when he was struck by a black Volkswagen Golf travelling westbound on the A695 Ryton, situated between Woodside Lane and Stargate Lane.

Specialist officers are providing support to Mr Morrow’s family during this difficult time. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene to assist with inquiries, and the investigation is currently ongoing.
