Two men have died and a woman has been seriously injured after a motorbike crashed into pedestrians on the A6 Preston Road in Clayton-Le-Woods, Lancashire.

Emergency services were called shortly after 10.30pm on Thursday, 7 August, following reports of a collision involving a BMW motorbike and two pedestrians.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s from Cheshire, and one of the pedestrians, a man in his 60s from Clayton-Le-Woods, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The second pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was rushed to hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Three Arrests Made

Lancashire Police confirmed that three men – a 53-year-old from Lancashire, and a 57-year-old and 46-year-old, both from Cheshire – were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. All have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Joe Ghigi said:

“This collision has very sadly resulted in the death of two men, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the collision.
Our thoughts are with the woman receiving treatment, and the loved ones of both men who died.
Although we have now made three arrests, our inquiries are very much ongoing. If you witnessed anything or have any footage which would assist our investigation, I would urge you to make contact with the police as soon as possible.”
