A12 Shut Overnight in Essex After Water Main Burst Sparks Flood Chaos

The A12 northbound is closed between Junction 12 (Mountnessing) and Junction 14 (Margaretting) following a burst water pipe flooding the carriageway. Water is gushing across the road, making it dangerous for drivers.

Specialist contractors are on-site tackling the mess, but the road will stay shut overnight. With freezing temperatures looming, the carriageway will also need treatment to prevent ice before reopening.

Diversion Route Explained

  • Leave the A12 at Junction 12 Marylands.
  • Take the B1002 through Mountnessing, Heybridge, Ingatestone, and Margaretting.
  • Rejoin the A12 northbound at Junction 15 Webbs Farm.

Drivers from further afield are advised to take the M11 northbound instead. Avoid the flood-hit stretch and keep your journey moving.
