11 Year Girl Airlifted to Hospital after Falling from Ride at Drayton Manor

Emergency services and fully trained park staff are assisting after it is understood that a person fell from the ride and into the water. An 11 year old girl from the Leicester area has been airlifted to Birmingham hospital after she fell from the splash Canyon. It is understood that the girl was attending the park with other members of a school trip. A spokesman for Drayton Manor said: “The Splash Canyon ride has been closed following an incident this afternoon. Emergency services are at the scene and our fully trained park staff are assisting.” Social media users have flocked to their Facebook page to express their shock at the closure. Dozens of users wrote that they hoped everything was okay. It has been reported that a young child fell into the water. West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue confirm it was called to reports of a patient in the water at Drayton Manor Park, Tamworth, at 2.18pm this afternoon. An ambulance, a senior paramedic officer, a paramedic area support officer, a rapid response paramedic, a community first responder and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire were sent to the scene. The first resource was on scene within seven minutes.
