A 35-year-old man has been jailed after breaching a restraining order

John Matthew Jones, of Llanberis, appeared at Caernarfon Court on Thursday, January 4th, charged with breaching a restraining order.

John Matthew Jones received a restraining order from the courts on January 2nd following being charged with assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Shortly before midnight on the same day, police received a report that Jones had breached the conditions of his restraining order by contacting the victims by making threats over the phone.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks imprisonment.

District Support Sergeant Andy Davies said: “Individuals who do not respect orders imposed by the court will be dealt with and made an example of.

“I commend the victim for their bravery to come forward during a frightening experience and hope they are reassured by the sentence imposed.

“Domestic abuse is never acceptable, and we will do everything in our power to bring perpetrators to justice.”
