A Fire At A Restaurant In Surbiton In The Early Hours Was Caused By A Faulty Fridge Say The Fire Service

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a restaurant with flats above on Ewell Road in Surbiton in the early hours of this morning. A small part of the ground floor in the restaurant was damaged by fire. Crews assisted around four people in evacuating the flats above the restaurant as a precautionary measure. No injuries are reported. The Brigade was called at 11.44pm and the incident was over by 11.07am. Fire crews from Surbiton, New Malden, Kingston, Sutton, Twickenham and Tooting fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is accidental and due to a faulty fridge.
